A new life?

Okay, so I may be leaving the great city of San Antonio. Last thursday I interviewed with an direct marketing agency in Dallas. And anyone who knows me, knows that I've been trying to get out of this city for years. So, this is really exciting. It's not that I don't love San Antonio. In fact, I've really grown quite fond of this city. It's become very familar and I have some really great friends here. If this works out, I will be very sad to leave. But overall, I'm ready. It's time for a new adventure in my life. I can't live for other people anymore. I have to do this. I want to do this.
Let's back up a little. I'm kinda a late bloomer. I just now, at 34 (almost 35! yikes!) feel like I have the tools, resources, professional experience and maturity to make a move . I've always wanted to try and live in a different city. They say that San Antonio is the biggest small town you'll ever find. And it's totally true. It's a huge city with a small town attitude. It's very conservative and not at all progressive. And just try and be gay and date in this town. I think I exhausted the dating pool by the time I was 25. And if you do the math, yes it's been 10 years since i've dated anyone seriously.
However, in these past ten years, I've had a few careers, (jobs, mostly) several apartments, lot's of late nites, a core group of great friends and watched more friends than i care to admit move on to other fun and exciting places. And of course, there's been a few notable sexual encounters. Although, they have been with the same four people. But that's another post for another time.
I guess my biggest accomplishment was finishing my degree and graduating college. And oh boy do i have the student loans to prove it. My advice to any returning students-PUBLIC UNIVERSITY! No more private schools for me. Grad school will defintely be public. So, after finishing school and begining my career in the cut-throat world of advertising, I think I'm ready to move on. I have a great job with a great agency here in San Antonio, but the agency in Dallas is offering a substantial salary increase and the opportunity to work on a huge account. HUGE! and then are the travel opportunities and other benefits of living in Dallas. My best friend, let's just call him Vetguy (he's a veternarian) moved up there a few years ago and he's been bugging me to make the move. Well, it looks like it's finally going to happen.
I got a call on Monday from the HR girl and she said that I've been slected as finalist. The next step is that they will submit my salary requirements to the higher-ups for approval. Upon approval, they will submit a formal offer.
I hate waiting. keep you're fingers crossed. I'll let you know.
